Central government will present the budget on 23 July’24.

The interim central budget for 2024-25 was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Feb. 1, 2024, and it includes the following highlights ¹:-

The government is expected to spend Rs 47,65,768 crore in 2024-25, a 6% increase from the previous year.-

Receipts other than borrowings are estimated at Rs 30,80,274 crore, a 12% increase.-

A nominal GDP growth rate of 10.5% is estimated for 2024-25.-

The revenue deficit target is 2% of GDP, and the fiscal deficit target is 5.1% of GDP.- No changes were made to direct and indirect tax rates.-

Tax benefits for startups, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and IFSC units have been extended until March 2025.-

Three major economic railway corridor programs will be implemented.-

Two crore additional houses will be built over the next five years under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Grameen.-

A new scheme will be launched to help middle-class citizens living in rented houses, slums, and unauthorised colonies buy or build their own houses.-

Vaccination against cervical cancer will be encouraged for girls aged 9-14.- A new platform called U-WIN will be launched to manage immunisation across the country.-

Healthcare coverage under Ayushman Bharat will be extended to all ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and helpers.
